La Region of Madrid announces the 20th edition of the Pet Adoption Fair, an event already established in the calendar that reinforces the responsible ownership and the well-being of dogs and cats. With a public investment that exceeds 82.000 Euros, the meeting once again brings together shelters, professionals, and families interested in offering a home to an animal.
The event will be held on 25 and October 26, between the 11:00 and 19:00, on the Puente del Rey esplanade, right in the heart of Madrid RÃo. The location, very accessible and close to iconic landmarks in the area, facilitates the influx of visitors seeking information and support before taking the step of adoption.
Where and when
The event maintains its open-air format in the esplanade of Puente del Rey, a spacious area that allows for comfortable viewing of the facilities. A large crowd is expected throughout the weekend, with continuous hours from 11:00 a.m. to 19:00 p.m. both days to encourage leisurely visits and comparisons of the different types of animals.
50 tents dedicated to responsible adoption
They'll be installed 50 carpas with differentiated functions: 26 will be reserved for animal protection associations and public entities, 20 will focus on the reception of Dogs and four in the one of catsIn each tent, the public will be able to meet some of the animals available and chat with professionals who will answer questions about care, adaptation, and coexistence.
In addition to face-to-face interaction, the hall will make available virtual searches to filter by size, character or habits, so it's easier to find the companion that best fits each family's lifestyle. You can also start the adoption process in the enclosure itself.
Participating entities and new municipalities
The meeting will be attended by Comprehensive Animal Shelter of the Community of Madrid (CIAAM), Official College of Veterinarians of Madrid (COLVEMA) and the Animal Protection Center of the Madrid City Council. In addition, specialized organizations , the Benemeritvm (dogs retired from the Civil Guard) and 4-Legged Heroes (retired working dogs).
As a novelty, they are incorporated eight municipalities with their respective protectors: Alcalá de Henares, Alcorcón, Leganés, Majadahonda, Parla, Rivas, Torrelodones and the Henares-Jarama CommonwealthThis expansion strengthens the territorial reach and makes it easier for more animals to find visibility and housing opportunities.
Impact and adoption figures
The show has established itself as a showcase for the responsible adoption in the region. In the last edition, 313 adoptions, with 237 dogs and 76 cats that became part of new families. In the last decade, the numbers have remained above 250 adoptions annually on average, proof of the sensitizing effect of this quote.
