How to make my cat sociable?
Many of us would like our adopted furry friend not to hide when visitors come over, but how can we achieve this? Well, what we need to keep in mind is that every cat has its own personality and its own history; that is, if that animal previously lived on the streets or has had a bad experience with humans, it probably won't want to spend time with them, except for its family.
For this reason, you should never force a cat to do anything. You must always respect its personal space and gradually accustom it to new situations. You can't take a shy cat and force it into a room with five or ten people, because it's very likely that from that day forward it will feel fear and/or insecurity every time someone wants to pet it. With this in mind, you should ask only one visitor to approach the cat with a treat. This visitor should stand about 5 meters away (or further if the cat becomes nervous) , crouch down, and show it the treat.
Now, you have to let her come to you. If she doesn't approach, you should try tossing treats (and wait for her to eat them), first very close to the cat but then getting closer and closer to where she is .
