What is the price of neutering a cat? Castration is a very important surgical operation, especially when living with a furry dog that you do not want to breed. But if that feline is also a cat, it is the way in which jealousy and the behaviors associated with it are eliminated.
But of course, although it is an intervention that veterinarians perform on a daily basis, it is normal that doubts arise about it. Doubts that I will try to resolve below.
What is the castration of cats?
Feline castration is an operation in which the cat's testicles are removed, and the ovaries and sometimes the cat's uterus as well. With this, it is possible to eliminate the possibility of unwanted kittens being born, and in the case of the female, also heat.
How long does it take to recover?
It will depend on each cat. But From experience I can tell you that cats in 1-2 days are already returning to normal life, and cats in 3-4 days. Of course, there are exceptions: a few hours after castration one of my cats was running as if nothing, but another took 8 days to fully recover.
When is it advisable to do it?
Well, there are opinions for all tastes. I have always carried the cat or cat before the first heat; that is, between 4 and a half months and six months. Why? Because if they are in heat even once, if they start to, for example, mark their territory with urine -a behavior typical of cats "whole" (that is, not neutered) or sterilized during the mating season, it will be difficult for them to stop later.
What is the price?
Again, it depends. It depends on the country, the veterinary clinic, whether or not you go through Protectora ... In principle, in Spain it costs an average of 70-200 euros to castrate a cat, and an average of 30-150 euros a cat.
Still, it is important that you know that if you plan to adopt, he will usually already be neutered or, if he is very young, you will need to commit to having him neutered when he is old.
I hope it has been useful to you.
