A quick and more or less simple way to protect our cat from parasites is by putting a pipette on it. This single-use plastic bottle contains an insecticidal liquid that, as soon as a flea, tick, or other tiny and annoying enemy of the feline bites, it is immediately eliminated.

However, these products that we buy in pet stores and veterinary clinics can sometimes cause poisoning. So if you don't want to risk we are going to explain how to make a homemade cat pipette.

What do you need?

First of all, let's see what are the ingredients you will need to make the homemade pipette:

  • Neem oil (you can get it this article)
  • Citronella (for sale this article)
  • Eucalyptus oil (you will find it by clicking on this link)
  • Tea tree oil (sold by aqui)
  • * Hypertonic or natural sea water
  • A 2ml syringe without a needle
  • 10ml caramel color bottle

* If you take sea water, it must be left in a glass for 24 hours and the next day passed through a coffee filter. In the case that it is purchased, it must be converted into isotonic in a 3: 1 ratio (3 parts of sea water to 1 of fresh water).

How do you prepare?

To prepare the homemade pipette for cats you have to know how much of each of the products we need to fill the 10ml bottle:

  • Isotonic sea water (65%) = 6,5ml
  • Tea tree oil 10%) = 1ml
  • Eucalyptus oil (10%) = 1ml
  • Citronella (10%) = 1ml
  • Neem oil (5%) = 0,5ml

Now that we know how much to add of each one, we will have to fill the bottle using a clean syringe.

When and how is it applied?

For the homemade pipette to be effective, 1,5ml must be used if the cat weighs less than 10kg, and 2ml if it exceeds them. The frequency will be once a month, and they will be placed in the center of the back of the neck (the area that joins the back) and a few centimeters before the start of the tail.

For the sake of your cat, do not expose him to contact with a sick cat

This way, your cat can be protected against parasites  .
