How long does a cat live at home? Whether it is of race or if it is mestizo, it usually has a longer life expectancy than that of the furry that goes outside, since the latter must overcome a series of dangers (cars, for example) every day, which it only decreases the number of years it can live.
But home can no longer be a safe place if we don't avoid it. Accidents do happen, and if we're not careful, one of those "blunders" could leave us without our beloved cat.
How long does he live?
Let's assume that we are doing everything right, that we take care of our cat giving him a high quality diet (without cereals), that we take him to the vet every time he needs him to give him vaccinations, castrate him and others, and that apart from that we make sure that it is a happy animal by keeping it a lot of company, giving it a lot of love and playing with him daily. Well, that way we can be almost certain that their life expectancy will be long.
How long? It will depend on the type of breed. For example:
- European common: 20 years.
- Persian: 12-17 years.
- Siamese: 12 to 18 years.
- Somali: 10-12 years.
- Ragdoll: 8-12 years.
What to do to make it live longer?
Apart from what we have already said, it is very important to store and keep out of reach all objects that are dangerous:
- Cleaning products: dishwasher, dishwasher ... All this has to be well stored.
- Sharp objects: could cause a lot of damage to the cat.
- Small objects, including marbles: If you put them in your mouth, you could choke and die asphyxiated.
- Medications: especially if there are elderly people in the house, make sure that they do not forget their pills on furniture, countertops, etc.
And of course, you have to keep the doors and windows closed, since otherwise you could go outside and get lost.
