Dogs and cats are very different animals in many ways, but not as much as is often thought. And it is that while the former are said to depend a lot on people, the latter are believed to be so lonely that they don't need us for almost anything, which is not entirely true.
If you are planning to adopt a furry one, but you don't know which one to decide on, next I will tell you what are the differences between dogs and cats.
The exterior (walks / outings)
Both dogs and cats need to exercise, just the former must be taken out for a walk a minimum of three times a day, and the seconds ... well, the seconds, if they have the opportunity, will walk alone through the street or the field and will not return until they want to.
Rewards for the human family
Dogs are known for wanting to please their humans at all times. They are always willing to learn new things, hence as soon as they succeed, they will try to do it again and again so that we can be proud of them; hence they also do it when we are sad. If we throw a ball at them, for example, they will pick it up and bring it to us.
Cats are a bit different. Although they can also be taught these tricks, the normal thing is that if they go out to the street they bring us their particular pieces, such as mice, grasshoppers, etc .; and if they don't come out, they will do the same with their toys.
Hours of sleep
Adult cats and dogs sleep practically the same hours (16-18h), but dogs are more active during the day, so they are easier to play with than with cats, who love their bed.
Meals
They are both carnivores, but the digestive system of dogs is prepared to eat vegetables and fruits better than that of cats. For this reason, it is very important to give felines a meal rich in animal protein, which is free of grains and by-products, otherwise they could have health problems in the short / medium term.
Bathroom
Cats groom themselves several times a day, so they do not need to bathe unless they have gotten too dirty or are so sick that they have stopped bathing. Dogs must be bathed once a month with a specific shampoo for them.
In any case, it is important that you know that both will give you a lot of affection if you treat them with respect, patience and, yes, with appreciation. 🙂
